Top Designer Resale Shops in America

Smooches!  It’s your resident Shopping Diva and I totally believe what is old can be new again!  During these tough economic times, saving money on clothing and accessories is important. And shopping in consignment stores is one way to do it.  For people who love designer clothes, bags and jewelry but can’t or hate shelling out major dough every time should really consider shopping in consignment shops.  Get your designer fix, at half or quarter of the price.

The really good consignment shops sell preowned goods only if they are in MINT condition.  When you buy, you will feel like you are getting a first hand quality product.  And to protect the buyer, there are laws against consigning fake designer pieces!

Here are my picks for the best shops across America:

Ina – (New York, NY) – With an extensive network in the fashion business, from designers to business owners, stylists, editors and models, INA often receives current pieces and limited edition items that could be seen in the designer’s store on Madison avenue or in SoHo.  Sure their prices may be higher than some consignment shops, but they carry the best of the best and the more recent styles.  I even found a Chanel bag for $600!  A steal!!

Elliot Consignment (Chicago, IL) – This family-owned business has been around since 1996.  At 2 locations, you can find major labels such as Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Diane von Furstenberg, Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors.  They even have an eBay store, though they only carry about 25% of what is offered in their actual physical locations.

La Couture (San Antonio, TX) – Located in the trendy Boardwalk Center and next door to the beautiful and historic Witte Museum, La Couture offers a wide selection including Chanel, Escada, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, St. John, Judith Leiber, Missoni, Hermes, Giorgio Armani and Roberto Cavalli just to name a few.

Labels (San Francisco, CA) – Labels Luxury Consignment Boutique offers two locations in the San Francisco Bay area. Labels Walnut Creek is an upscale women’s clothing and accessories boutique. Labels Berkeley is exclusively an upscale women’s accessory boutique which offers the finest in consigned handbags, jewelry, small accessories like belts, scarves, and leather goods as well as a couture shoe salon.  Labels offers designers like Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, etc.  While also carrying the latest by trend designers like Diane Von Furstenberg, Rock & Republic, True Religion, etc.

Encore Plus (Deerfield Beach, FL) – Somewhere between Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton, you will find this little gem.  This trendy boutique offers a wide selection of women’s apparel, handbags, shoes, sunglasses, and jewelry from top name fashion designers at 50%-70% below retail costs. You will find an ever changing inventory featuring premier designs from: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, St John, Hermes, Armani, Valentino, Fendi, Prada and numerous other preferred labels.

And though not consignment, my favorite resale site for bags and jewelry is Bag Borrow or Steal!  Sign up for their email list and get offers that give you even further discounts to already discounted products!
